On an alternate Earth, the President's daughter, Helena Glory, travels to the island manufacturing facility for Rossum’s Universal Robots, a corporation that produces synthetic humanoid laborers, to convince CEO Harry Domin that the robots have souls and deserve fair conditions and humane treatment. Despite assurances from Domin and his management team that the robots have no souls or feelings, Helena sets out to help her robot brothers and sisters however she can, even to her own detriment. 

 

A prescient tale about A.I. takeover, as well as an examination of labor relations and what it means to be human, R.U.R.: Rossum’s Universal Robots remains as relevant as when it was first performed over a century ago in the aftermath of World War I and the advent of mass production.
